What is Windows Defender?
Windows defender is Microsoft stock anti virus that is loaded onto every computer that they sell. The anti-virus prevents you from downloading and running certain programs it believes are dangerous. Windows Defender also allows you to scan your computer at any time for any virus' or harmful files. You can choose between a quick scan and a large scan. The larger the scan, the deeper the anti virus searches your whole computer for hidden virus'. A quick scan may not reveal a trojan, while a full scan would. Why disable such a great anti-virus?
There are many reasons somebody would want to disable windows defender. When installing third party programs like applications, Windows Defender might consider certain programs as malicious because they alter how existing apps work, or how your computer works. Apps like these include hacks or mods for games, or apps that allow you to openly change code in the Windows OS that would allow you to fully customize how your computer works. People might also need to install certain programs, if not pre-loaded already, onto their computer for work based projects.

Disabling windows defender.
Disabling windows defender is pretty simple.
1. Go to your start button and search for security and click on it
2. After a window comes up with the security settings on it, select virus and threat protection
3. Under "Virus and threat protection settings" select manage settings
3. Turn real time protection off
4. Confirm that you want to turn it off
5. Exit the window

Be aware, this will not permanently disable windows defender. Every-time said computer is powered down, you will have to go through the same process again. Although this will turn it off until the next boot up, it will delete the files that it believes are malicious during the next startup.

How to prevent Windows Defender from deleting files it believes are malicious on startup.
In order to do this, you must follow these steps
1. Go to your start button and search for security then click on "Windows Security"
2. Select virus and threat protection
3. Under "Virus and threat protection settings" select manage settings.
4. Scroll down to "Exclusions" and select "Add or remove exclusions"
5. Add your file or application, confirm your choice, then exit.
