The Internet Archive and the National Emergency Library

What is the Internet Archive? It's a collection of all types of media: books, movies, music, images, audio, web pages, software, etc. A while ago, they came to my attention because of their announcement of the National Emergency Library, which is, in their words, "a temporary collection of books that supports emergency remote teaching, research activities, independent scholarship, and intellectual stimulation while universities, schools, training centers, and libraries are closed." They operate the same way as a normal library, just online, lending out digital copies of books for two-week periods. However, the National Emergency Library has temporarily suspended all wait-lists for checking out books, allowing any number of people to check out a book at a given time in light of the pandemic, at least until June 30, 2020. Teacher Project - Working with Vex IQ

For my final project, I'm going to help Ms. Henry learn a bit more about the vex Iq robotics kit. She had mentioned to me a while ago that she had run out of things to do in her robotics class, because the vex IQ kits did not hve many assignments that you could do. They had built every robot in the instruction manual, and the chromebooks would not allow them to load programs onto the robot brains. So I hope to be able to help her out a bit with that. One of the problems with the kit as I have mentioned in my previous blogs, is that the Vex IQ programming is not for beginners. Anyone who uses it should probably have some experience in block type coding or python, which luckily for me I have used code studio before and the block type programming for both websites are very similar. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom. Google's Search Operators

Many people know how to search Google. Its easy, right? Just navigate to Google.com and enter what you would like to learn about. What if I told you that the way you have been searching is wrong. How? Well, by using Google's Search Operators, you can more accurately and more easily find the information that you are looking for. Say you want to find a line from a song, speech, book, or other line of text. You may not remember the title, but you go and search: it was the best of times, it was the worst of times . Wrong. Now, lets try it with Google's Search Operators. Using quotes around your search query tells Google to search for that phrase in its entirety. Lets try it again: "it was the best of times it was the worst of times". Much better, now you are searching more accurately.
