As the race to a bezel-less phone continues, Samsung takes a creative approach to it. Numerous companies such as Apple, LG, Huawei, Asus, and OnePlus, just to name a few, have all used a notch in attempt to get closer to a bezel-less phone; while Samsung uses a hole punch to avoid this notch. To make the bezels as small as possible, Samsung leaves one laser cut hole in the top right of the phone for the camera.
Some people think this is a huge mistake, but I believe this is an amazing idea. As an iPhone Xs user, the notch does not appear to be a huge problem once you get used to it. But, once I first got the phone, it took me about a week to get used to having the notch there. That week was a frustrating week as watching videos with a chunk out of the screen simply did not seem right. I believe that this hole punch is the best solution to this. Now, when you get a new phone, you won't have this problem.
Another new addition to the Galaxy S10 is the new fingerprint sensor. Unless informed about it, you would not know there is a fingerprint sensor on the phone, but there is. To maximize space on the phone, the fingerprint sensor is built into the screen. This is Samsung's approach to Apple's Face ID. I believe this is better than the Face ID for two reasons. First off, it helps save screen space. If Samsung developed a Face ID of their own, it would have to take more screen space and would lead to them needing to include a notch. Secondly, I feel weird with the Face ID. Although it must be safe, I feel as if when my face is being scanned to unlock my phone, I worry that if my phone is somehow hacked that I could be tracked down in some weird way because of it. Although it is a paranoid thought, hacking technologies have greatly advanced in the past years, and anything may be possible.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S10 has the potential to be the best phone of the year. I believe that once the phone is released for purchase, sales will go through the roof for this phone because of the new technological advancements with this new model.
