Genius Scan App

I wanted to showcase a useful app that can do things that can't already be accomplished easier and better by Google Classroom, Khan Academy, or Kahoot. What I came up with was the Genius Scan app. Originally, I was introduced to this app in my VHS Physics course. It essentially allows you to write up your homework, but turn it in online or by email/sharing.

How it works: once a student finishes their homework, they can open the app and take a picture of it. The app will automatically frame and align the paper in a pdf file. From personal experience, it is much easier and quicker than trying to use a printer to scan something, and it looks like a normal scan. If there are multiple pages, it will allow you to scan new ones and add them into previously created documents, which is also helpful if you need to add to a paper started earlier. The app allows you to easily email the pdf's, and they can be dropped into google drive as well.

Not only is this useful for homework, but it can also be used to upload assignments (especially if you don't want a student to copy and paste the directions into google translate or into their lab report). This app can be particularly helpful in AP classrooms with written exams that they need to practice for. Students can easily turn in their written papers for DBQs, free responses, and essays online. It can even just be used as a way to keep track of written notes and documents. You can find out more about it on their website: https://www.thegrizzlylabs.com/genius-scan/
