It is impossible to know the future, but I have hopes for how technology might improve the learning environment in the future.
I hope technology will be able to analyze students' progress in real time. For example, if a student is writing an essay, the technology could provide detailed information on how much time is spent for each part of the writing process. If the information shows a student having difficulties on a particular step, it will be easier for teachers to assist the students in the areas where assistance is needed. This will be a major breakthrough in education because today, student work is generally only evaluated once handed in. By only evaluating the final product, educators currently fail to evaluate how students do their schoolwork. Once educators focus more on how students work, student work will be improved.
If anybody knows of an existing system which already does this, please mention it in the comments. Hopefully we see one within a few years.
