Duolingo Review
What is Duolingo:
Duolingo is a website dedicated to free language learning as well as a platform for the translation of texts. The service is designed in such a way that as the user advances in his learning he helps translate web pages and other documents. Currently the site offers courses in Spanish, English, French, German and Portuguese, Italian or Dutch (from English), although new language courses are in the process of being created thanks to "The language incubator".The courses:
Each course as you know is made to fit your recommendations. There are different modules which represents a skill and you can track how much you are progressing or how much you have progressed in a particular subject. Duolingo also orders which ones you have to complete first in order to learn best. So maybe it will recognize that you are weak in a particular skill and it will focus on that instead of the things you are most strong in. This way you are developing all your skills and not just getting better at one and forgetting about another. For example you would have to finish lesson 10 before going on to lesson 11. But if you are stronger in reading then listening duolingo will focus in listening. Each lesson:
Each lesson is a range of different activities and the activities are tracked by a progress bar for each language.Different subjects call for different activities, listening will often give you something that you have to listen to and
then translate. Or speaking exercises where you have to say what you here. New grammar of vocab are often
tied in with images where the picture is explained so that each vocabulary word is understood. All in all the app
is very interactive and hands on so that that people learn by interaction. After each lesson you are given at your
weakest words so that you know what to focus more on. After you have completed a lesson or lessons you may
revise those lessons if you feel you can do better. Furthermore duolingo gives you an estimate on how well or
how much you are likely to remember in the module based on how well you did so you know if you need to revise
it or not. If you decide to revise it the strength of the module will increase so you know how much you have progressed.
Each lesson provides lots of opportunities to progress you skill to the best possible.
