As a student, I spend countless hours each day in a classroom, taking notes to learn. Despite the practicality with notes, it gets boring after hours and hours of nothing but notes. Quizlet Live is the perfect solution. The game tests your knowledge and helps you learn while staying entertained with friends!
How To Play
Once the game has started, the teams will be automatically created. Each teammate will have the same question pop up on their screen. Only one person will have the correct answer and will have to tap on the correct answer. The goal of the game is for everyone on the team to answer all the questions correctly. If somebody answers a question incorrectly, the team will lose all of its progress and will start from the beginning. The team to answer all questions first wins!
Does it Really Help Students Learn?
A common question teachers may be wondering is if Quizlet Live actually helps the students learn. The simple answer to this question is yes! As the students are engaged with the questions on the screen, they have to test their knowledge whether or not they have the answer. The best way of learning something is if you do it incorrectly the fist time and then correct it later on. Quizlet Live is a perfect example for this because if a student gets one question wrong, it will come back later in the game which will allow them to recover from their mistake and now know to fix it. This gives the student an easy way to learn in a quick amount of time!
How To Start A Game
- First, a Quizlet study set must be created
- In the center of the screen, click on "Create a study set".
- Create a title for the study set and create the terms for the set. The terms should be inputted on the left hand side and the definitions on the right.
- If there are more than 5 terms, click on the "+ ADD CARD" button in the bottom center of the screen. Once finished, hit "CREATE" on the bottom right corner of the screen to create the set.
- Once the set is made, you can start a game of quizlet live. Here are the steps to start a game.
- On the right hand side of the screen, click on the "LIVE" button.
- In the center of the screen, click on the "Create game" button.
- On the next screen, click the play type you would like and then click on the "Create game" button in the center of the screen. (You will only be allowed to use the Definition and Term game mode if you have the free version).
- Have your students go to the website and enter the code in the center of the screen.
- Once all your students have joined, click on the "Create game with [X amount of] students" that is located in the center of the screen. You can see this in the picture above.
- Lastly, click on the "Start Game"button on the top right of the screen. Now the game will start.
Some last things to be noticed is that to start a game you must have a Quizlet Teacher account, the study set must have at least six terms, and you will need a tablet or device for each of your students to use.
You may pay to upgrade your Quizlet account to have extra features but you may still play Quizlet Live for free. For free, it is worth the class time as it has helped me learn many things. Up to my junior year of high school, Quizlet Live is the most fun learning game I have played in school and I believe if each teacher used it, more children would want to learn and broaden their knowledge.
