To understand the main development of the Glowforge it is important to understand the Maker Movement and its effects on the technology world as well as society. The Maker Movement is a team of inventors, designers who meet in one setting (maker space) to expand and challenge their understanding of technology. The movement teaches kids to expand their imagination and challenge themselves with the technology available to them. This transitions us to the wide range of technology available at a maker space. Kids have access to 3D printers, computers and various programming devices like electronic kit; this helps kids create their own electronic set as well as learning the basic circuit.
One device making an impact in the Maker Movement is that of the Glowforge. Still in it's development face and not yet available to the public, the Glowforge is already grabbing the attention of the technology world and Maker Movement. The Glowforge is a 3D laser printer which cuts almost anything: from wood, paper, fabric to leather. One might ask isn't the Glowforge basically a 3D printer, the difference is the Glowforge cuts the material and the user has to build that material themselves, factoring in the creative aspect. With the Glowforge ones imagination can run wild, they can build anything from their own wallet, to a notebook, to a personalized drone, to even engraving your Mac just the way you want it to be. The Glowforge takes one idea and makes it a reality.
