How to Create a Google Forms Quiz

Why Google Forms?

With the uncertainty of when we'll be in school or whether we'll be at home, teachers have started giving quizzes on Google Forms. Google Forms is an efficient way to give out assessments in a straight forward and easy manner. The UI is simple to use allowing for anyone to use it. In this blog I will explain how to use Google Forms to create a quiz.

How to get to Google Forms Quizzes

1. Go to forms.google.com and sign in to your google account. Next click on the button that says "Blank Quiz"

2. Once there a screen like on the right should
appear.

Features of Google Forms Quizzes:

Rename the quiz:

- You can click on the words that say "Blank Quiz". There you can rename the quiz to whatever you'd like.

Form Description:
- Under the name of the quiz, there is an option to add a form description. Here you can add any message you'd like to your students and write specific instructions.

Question type:
- There are multiple types of questions that Google Forms allows. They include short answer, paragraph, Multiple Choice, checkboxes, and dropdowns from a list of options. You can set the question type to whatever you'd like out of these choices. Also at the bottom of the options there are ways you can arrange your question options.

Question:
- On the form, where it says "Untitled Question", you may write whatever question you'd like. Simply click on "Untitled Question" delete it, and replace it with your own question.

Question Options:
 - If you chose any other option besides short answer, and paragraph you must add question options to the question. To change the question option, simply click on the text labeled "question 1", delete it and replace it with your other question. To add more options simply click the "add option" button below question 1.

Answer Key:
 - At the bottom of the each question there is something called Answer Key. This is where you input which answer is the right one. For Open Response questions you may input a specific sentence you're looking for or not input an answer and grade it yourself. For multiple choice you simply click the multiple choice answer(s) which is right. Once done change the number of points the question is worth.

Points:
 - To assign points, simply click on the number next to the word points on the right and change it to whatever number of points you want for each question. Once done click done.

Duplicate and Trash buttons:
- At the bottom next to answer key, there are two buttons which allow you to duplicate the question and trash it. If you hover over each icon you can see which does what.

Requirements:
- Also at the bottom you can change whether the question is required or not simply by clicking the switch next to "Required". This then makes it so the question is required to be answered.

Other options (From top to bottom):
- The Plus allows you to add another question
- The paper with an arrow to the right allows you to import questions from another form.
- The "Tt" adds another question as well.
